Easter The "Mahal na Araw" or Easter in Poblacion, Makati City is one of the celebrated Christian uniting every Holy Week. The Philippines is one of the countries has a large number of Christians. One of the most important thing they held annually every April or March is the period of commemorating the sacrifices of the Lord Jesus Christ and for saving the world from sins. Christians also ask for forgiveness, do sacrifices, and do good for this celebration because they believe that this is the only way to reduce their sins. Whenever Holy Week falls here in our barangay, I would never let the week pass without roaming around to see each and every street with their different styles of showing the events of what happen to the Lord Jesus Christ’s suffering.
The Calvary in Poblacion
Barangay Poblacion in Makati has a different design and styles on how they will display it. In Visita-Kalbaryo, many people and and even foreigners visit every Kalbaryo, like me even though I am from poblacion I still visit every Kalbaryo not only in our street but in each and every Kalbaryo because it shows the circumstances of how the Lord Jesus Christ faced the difficulties he had to save us from our sin. On every street there is Kalbaryo which shows the various stations of the cross and you can see how great effort and a lot time spend by people there to have a charming and fascinating Kalbaryo.
You can hear young or elders singing “pabasa” in each Calvary and they don’t care even they are not in the right tone because this tradition during Holy Week is more important to them.

One of the most awaited scenes people want to see during the feast of Holy week in Barangay Poblacion is the parade of each Saints which shows sequence of events of the Lord Jesus Christ when he is saving us from our sin. The “Prosisyon” is one of the fascinating and amazing because people carries Saints that have different variation of designs, like a variety of flowers. And as it lift and passed in the church and in every street, it is blessed and prayed by the priest in the church of St. Peter and Paul. After the “Prosisyon”, it will return to the “Kalbaryo” where it is belong and placed. So if you see “Prosisyon”, one way to ask for forgiveness is to sacrifice and to lift the Saints to Lord.
